1. Who we are
Couriyo is a trading name of Kontrola Digital Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 15658892. Our registered office is Suite Ra01, 195-197 Wood Street, London, England, E17 3NU. We operate from Stoke-on-Trent.
Couriyo is the booking platform. We book deliveries with Magnum Taxis' licensed drivers through the Autocab dispatch system. Magnum Taxis provides the licensed driver and vehicle service.
2. The service
You give us the collection address, delivery address, parcel details and delivery instructions. We obtain a fare quote, arrange dispatch and provide tracking and proof of delivery where available. A delivery is not accepted until we confirm the booking.
We may refuse a booking where the route, parcel, instructions or operating conditions are unsafe, unlawful or outside the service we can provide.
3. Business accounts
Accounts are for business use. You must provide accurate business and contact details, keep your login details secure and tell us promptly if someone should no longer have access. You are responsible for bookings made by people authorised by your business.
4. Quotes and prices
The price is the standard taxi fare shown in the quote plus a £1 Couriyo platform fee per delivery. The fare is supplied by the dispatch system. A quote is an estimate held for the expiry period shown at the time; after it expires, we may need to obtain a new quote. We do not currently charge VAT because Kontrola Digital Ltd is not VAT registered.
5. Payment
Pay-as-you-go senders pay by card at booking through Stripe. Couriyo does not see or store your card number. Senders with an approved invoice account pay the invoice within their agreed 7-day or 30-day terms. Standing runs are available only to senders with an approved invoice account. We may pause an account or decline further bookings while an invoice is overdue.
6. Items we do not carry
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, do not send:
- dangerous goods or anything that could endanger a person, vehicle or property;
- illegal items;
- cash or bearer instruments;
- live animals;
- perishable food;
- biological specimens, including UN3373 specimens; or
- items above the value limit shown at booking.
You must tell us if an item needs special handling. We may stop, refuse or return a parcel if its contents do not match the booking or these terms.
7. Packaging and labelling
You must package each parcel so it can be carried safely in a vehicle, withstand normal handling and not leak or damage other goods. Mark the parcel clearly with the recipient's name and delivery details, and give us accurate collection and delivery instructions. You remain responsible for the parcel until the driver collects it.
8. Collection and delivery
Collection and delivery times are estimates, not guaranteed appointments. Traffic, weather, access, the recipient and other events can affect timing. You must make sure the parcel is ready and that the collection and delivery locations are accessible.
Proof of delivery may be a photograph, PIN or signature, depending on the instructions and what the driver can capture. A tracking page may show status updates supplied by the dispatch system.
9. Failed deliveries and returns
A delivery may fail if nobody is available, the address is wrong, the recipient refuses the parcel, access is unsafe or the parcel does not meet these terms. We will contact the sender where we can and may arrange a return to the collection address.
A return trip is charged at the standard taxi fare plus the £1 Couriyo platform fee. Invoice-account senders are invoiced for the return. Other senders must pay the driver on return.
10. Cancellations
You can cancel free of charge before the driver collects the parcel. After collection, a charge may apply because the driver has started the delivery or a return may be needed.
If Magnum Taxis or the dispatch system cancels, rejects or records a no-fare before a delivery is completed, that delivery is not charged. If a card payment was taken, we refund it.
11. Liability
Subject to the limits below, our liability for loss or damage to a parcel is limited to £100 per parcel unless we agree a different limit in writing before the booking.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of sales, loss of business or loss of goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
12. Claims
Tell us about loss, damage or a delivery problem within 7 days of delivery, attempted delivery or return. Include the booking reference, a description of what happened and reasonable evidence, such as photographs or an invoice. We may be unable to assess a claim reported later.
13. Data protection and processing
We use personal data to provide the service and handle bookings as described in our privacy notice. When you provide customer or recipient data, your business is the controller and Couriyo is your processor.
Instructions and purpose. We process that data only on your documented instructions and only to quote, book, dispatch, track, evidence, support and invoice deliveries. You must give lawful instructions, tell us about any change or deletion requirement, and ensure you have the lawful basis and notices needed to provide the data. Do not include unnecessary special category data; where a prescription or other health information is needed, you must have the applicable Article 6 basis and Article 9 condition.
Confidentiality. Couriyo will ensure that people authorised to process customer data are bound by confidentiality duties. We will not use it for advertising, profiling or an unrelated purpose.
Sub-processors. You authorise the sub-processors needed to provide the service: Magnum Taxis and Autocab for dispatch, Cloudflare for hosting, the database and email delivery, and Stripe for card payments. We remain responsible for selecting them, require appropriate data protection terms and will give notice of a material change where required.
Security. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including access controls, encryption in transit and at rest through our hosting providers, confidentiality controls, event monitoring, backups and a retention schedule.
Assistance. Taking account of the processing and information available to us, we will reasonably assist you with data-subject requests, security incidents, breach notifications, impact assessments and consultations with the regulator. Tell us promptly about a suspected breach or request relating to data you supplied.
End of processing. When the service or your instructions require it, we will return or delete customer data unless a legal obligation requires retention. The retention periods in our privacy notice apply to booking, invoice, proof, tracking and security records. On request, we will provide reasonable information needed to demonstrate compliance and allow proportionate audits subject to confidentiality and security limits.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the service, law or our operating arrangements change. The version in force when you book applies to that delivery. We will publish the current version on this website.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory law says otherwise.
